[Job Seeker] TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) (EPS-TOPIK)
(Go to link) ◼Purpose This is a Korean language test administered by the Ministry of Education's National Institute for International Education , and is intended for foreigners and overseas Koreans whose native language is not Korean. It is called TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) and its purpose is to provide direction for Korean language learning and to expand the use of the Korean language. ◼Eligibility No restrictions ◼Evaluation method It is divided into 6 levels , and while the lower numbers, Level 1 and Level 2, are generally evaluated, the Korean Language Proficiency Test is evaluated as advanced (Level 5, Level 6) as the numbers increase . Beginner (Levels 1-2) / Intermediate (Levels 3-4) / Advanced (Levels 5-6) ◼Test Types TOPIK 1 (Level 1, 2) TOPIK 2 (Levels 3, 4, 5, and 6) ◼Evaluation Area ◼Passing criteria Recognition grade based on total points earned 1st class ▪ Able to perform basic language functions necessary for survival, such as ‘self-introduction, purchasing items, and ordering food’, and able to understand and express content related to very personal and familiar topics, such as ‘oneself, family, hobbies, and the weather’. ▪ You can create simple sentences based on an understanding of approximately 800 basic vocabulary words and basic grammar. You can understand and construct simple everyday and practical sentences. 2nd class ▪ Able to perform functions necessary for daily life such as making phone calls or making requests, and functions necessary for using public facilities such as post offices and banks. ▪ You can understand and use paragraphs on personal and familiar topics using approximately 1,500 to 2,000 words. ▪ You can use language differently in formal and informal situations. 3rd class ▪ Can perform basic language functions necessary for using various public facilities and maintaining social relationships without experiencing any particular difficulties in carrying out daily life. ▪ Can express or understand familiar and specific social materials in paragraph units. ▪ Able to understand and use the basic characteristics of written and spoken language. Grade 4 ▪ Able to perform language functions necessary for using public facilities and maintaining social relationships, and to perform functions necessary for performing general tasks to a certain extent. ▪ Can understand simple content from news and newspaper articles, and can understand and fluently use general social and abstract materials with relative accuracy. ▪ You can understand and use social and cultural content based on frequently used idiomatic expressions and an understanding of representative Korean culture. Grade 5 ▪ Able to perform language functions necessary for research or work in a specialized field to a certain extent. ▪ Able to understand and use unfamiliar materials across politics, economy, society, and culture. ▪ Able to use language appropriately according to formal and informal contexts and spoken and written contexts. Grade 6 ▪ Able to perform language functions necessary for research or work in a specialized field relatively accurately and fluently. ▪ Able to understand and use unfamiliar material across politics, economics, society, and culture. While not at the level of a native speaker, they do not experience difficulty performing functions or expressing meaning. ◼Usage Information ① Government-sponsored foreign scholarship students' advancement and academic management ② Admission to domestic universities and graduate schools for foreigners and overseas Koreans who have completed foreign education courses ③ Obtaining employment visas and selecting employees seeking employment at Korean companies, as well as personnel standards ④ Recognition of domestic licenses of foreign medical professionals ⑤ Obtaining qualifications to take the Korean Language Teacher Qualification Test (Levels 2-3) for foreigners ⑥ Acquisition of permanent residency ⑦ Application for marriage immigration visa issuance (Go to link) ◼Purpose This is a Korean language test administered by the Korea Human Resources Development Institute of Korea, and is called the Employment Permit System - Test of Proficiency in Korean (EPS-TOPIK). We evaluate the Korean language proficiency and understanding of Korean society of foreign job seekers and use this as an objective selection criterion when creating a list of foreign job seekers. This test is designed to encourage entry of those with a basic understanding of Korea and to improve their ability to adapt to life in Korea. EPS ( Employment Permit System) is an abbreviation for Employment Permit System, a system established to legally hire foreign workers. It is not as difficult as other Korean language proficiency tests. ◼Eligibility -Foreigners and overseas Koreans, those who wish to apply (Koreans may also apply) - Ages 18 to 39 -No criminal record beyond the safe deposit box - No history of being forcibly deported or departed from the Republic of Korea in the past -There will be no restrictions (disqualifications) on leaving the country. ◼Evaluation Contents -Basic communication skills necessary for daily life in Korea -Korean language skills required in industrial settings - Understanding Korean corporate culture ◼Test Structure ◼Passing criteria
